Shooting Organic Fashion in Todos Santos Pueblo Magico

Todos Santos is one hour driving north of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula. Known for it's artsy vibe and Hotel California status, there is so much more to this exquisite little pueblo. At first you might mistake it for a quiet lil' place and for sure there is no Cabo Wabo (yeah), but once you have seen the baby turtle release (awe cute!) and a few dozen breaching whales (oh wow!!) you just will realize that Todos Santos has a pulse after all. In fact, Leigh and I - with our partners -  loved it so much we bought houses there.

Ah, but now the cat is out of the bag because this blog has a HUGE subscriber list!! LOL!!! NOT!!!

In 2015 my partner and I visited Todos Santos with my son for one short week, and the decision was made to return the next year for 2 months. That led to renting a house in 2016 for four months, and at the end of the extended vacation resulted in the purchase of an adorable little casa on the hillside. I could start a blog about home renovations in Mexico, that would be fun!!! LOL!!!

In October we took possession of Mi Casa, and I spent three weeks in glorious heat and humidity getting a "few" things in order! I ride my bike for transportation and between that, and outdoor lifestyle. long beach walks and hikes into the Sierra Mountains, I hardly have to take advantage of the many yoga and pilates studios here!

I have met many new amigos in Todos Santos and am so grateful that one of them is Vic Kirby. Vic and I met in Kelowna at Georgie Girl two summers ago in 2016, and as the conversation led to the realization that we would be in Todos Santos at the same time, We made a promise to get together for a shoot that winter. Vic and I spent a gorgeous day on Las Palmas beach close by having photography fun. I was not a very good model for him as he is generally used to pros, but we got to know each other and talked about plans for more shoots.

January 2018 ...

I had packed with me our brand new Groceries Apparel “holiday” delivery which had just landed in Georgie Girl. Oversized Dylan tee dresses and the Oolong dress, made in LA from the softest organic cotton and eucalyptus, this line is so well loved by our customers!  I had a vision of a shoot showing these PERFECT travel and everyday wearables, and the model I had in mind to work with was Leigh. We had met in October and she was the inspiration for this shoot, as she is naturally gorgeous and real, quick  to laugh out loud and stylish as all heck.

A lovely friend, realtor Perla Garcia of Ricardo Amigo Real Estate (RARE) generously allowed us the use of her casa, which overlooks the town, for the day. The views are very in unique with the ocean in the distance, the town in the foreground, perched on a hillside.

As it was Valentines Day, Leigh’s husband thoughtfully had arranged for a huge bowl of sunflowers for her at Perla’s house. How romantic!!

Vic nailed my vision and went above and beyond to make this shoot work for Georgie Girl. And he was just the best friend ever to put up with our giggling and wine consumption. (Which by the way was his suggestion – he just didn’t quite know our capacity! LOL!!!

Both Leigh and I HAD to have a pair of these rockin' "Made in Mexico" boots from Etnica, a sweet boutique in Todos Santos that carries really great Mexican apparel for men and women.

I think we pulled this one off pretty nicely  - especially as we had limited makeup and hair help, pretty much just wake up, throw it on and go!!! Plus, as I had electricians working at my house all morning and the water was cut off as well, no shower, no hair wash and anything that needed water was out of a bowl – NO not the toilet bowl!! LOL!!!
